To mark my 275th birthday, here now is the worldwide premiere of "#Gerrymandering! The Musical." It's the story of a lovable Founding Father who lost his way, but who's now fighting for #fairMaps and to reclaim his weird name. Enjoy. πΆππ΅ #GerryBDay
It's Festivus & here's my Airing of Grievances: I gerrymandered ONE time β 212 years ago. I've been dead 210 years. So how bout stop blaming ME for the fact that YOU future Americans STILL let politicians draw their own districts?! Get it together, people!π‘
My scary story: On a dark & stormy night in 1812, I unleashed the horrible "GerryMander" Monster β half Gerry, half salamander β all EVIL! Two centuries later, I'm still haunted by that vile serpentine creature that devours our democracy!π±π #Halloween2024π
When I "invented" #gerrymandering 212 years ago, we used a goose feather & our best guesses to draw unfair voting maps. Today, politicians use software & satellites to manipulate your voting districts. How is this STILL a thing?! π€#ThursdayThoughts#fairMaps
When you're a Founding Father who did lots of cool stuff (like help make America), but for 200 years everyone blames you for "ruining democracy" by inventing #gerrymandering, sometimes you just gotta dance out your feelings...πΊ #FridayFeeling#FridayVibes
On this day in 1775, the Continental Congress appointed Ben Franklin as Postmaster General with an annual salary of $1,000 β or as we called it back then, "wig money."
As I close out my 280th birthday, here's a replay of "Gerrymandering! The MusicalπΆ," a sad tale of how I went from hero to zero by #gerrymandering. My birthday wish: end gerrymandering so I can repair my rep & you can have a healthy democracy! #GerryBDayπ

Today is my 280th birthday!π Help me celebrate by calling for an end to #gerrymandering so I can repair my ruined rep and you can have a healthy democracy! #fairMaps#GerryBDayπ₯³
#OTD in #history, 1744, Elbridge Gerry was born in Marblehead, MA. Gerry would sign the #DeclarationofIndependence, and serve as U.S. Rep., Gov. of MA, and #VPOTUS, but he is best known for his tolerance of the district reshaping strategy which bears his name: #Gerrymandering.
As I get ready to turn 280 years young on July 17, I've made a list of my accomplishments:
β signing Declaration of Independence
β Governor of Massachusetts
β Vice President
βand my BIG regret: gerrymanderingπ
Oof! That one still stings.π€¦
