Advanced light-water small modular reactors are smaller, manufactured versions of large-scale reactors. They typically range from 20 to 300 megawatts of electric power and can come in two types — pressurized or boiling water reactor systems.

ON THIS DAY in 1983, St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant Unit 2 first connected to the grid. It was built 20 feet ABOVE sea level to protect against flooding and extreme weather, now powering over 1 million homes in south Florida. 🌊
