🚨The Gov could FINALLY be about to end fox hunting for good, by banning trail hunting. But the likes of Farage are criticising the ban. We need to drown them out: sign the petition now to back the ban and tell the Government to hold firm: 38d.gs/trailhuntingtw

I had the most fabulous views of a very obliging bittern at Burton Mere today. I saw it twice flying, then sat out in the open. The one time I didn't have my camera with me πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ, so I had to make do with my phone. πŸ˜„ The final pic is the bittern flying into the sunset. 😁

The best find of my "botany" survey on a saltmarsh today was ...... a SQUID!!!!!!!! πŸ¦‘πŸ˜ƒ A European common squid (Alloteuthis subulata). It was so beautiful! Right out in the saltmarsh. 😍

There were loads of crabs too. It had been a quite high tide last night, so the crabs and squid were really high up the saltmarsh. Though a squid is so extraordinary, that another possibility would be it was dropped by a seabird. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

We couldn't tell if it was still alive or not, so we put it in a pool, waiting for high tide just in case. We had to move it with some grass as it's little tentacles were gripping the grass. I think that is definitely up there as one of my top survey finds. 😍

A wonderful encounter with a beautiful, huge Red Deer hind, who spotted me through the woods, the rest of her herd stood back while she watched me for a while, decided I wasn't a threat, then she calmly dropped her head and gaze and walked straight towards me for a closer look.🧡

It was incredible and I feel so privileged and humble for her to have trusted me. It was an absolutely amazing experience to have had this brief but special connection with a stunning and powerful wild animal. Wow!! πŸ₯°

A few more of the rutting Red Deer on Mull. The bellowing is very evocative and echoes around the valleys. Impressive animals to see. @CareEcology @Nature_Scotland #Deer #wildlife #nature #TwitterNatureCommunity #naturelovers #NatureBeauty #Autumn @WildlifeMag

It swam over to the loch side near us to finish eating an eel, and then ran along the shore to just a few feet from us, rolled around, groomed itself and then finally fell asleep RIGHT IN FRONT OF US!!! 😍 An utterly amazing encounter.

It was so confident and relaxed as we all sat quietly in awe watching it! We quietly left it to sleep with huge grins on our faces. AMAZING!! πŸ₯°
