I keep seeing posts from teachers sad because they didn’t get the gifts kids were told to bring them. Is this common? It comes off as gross to me. I don’t want a present someone was told to give me, if you don’t want to give me a gift I’m not offended. Gifts are not expected.

Unhinged classroom management, 3rd grade style. First thing Monday morning I told the kids “It’s a ‘no whining’ week” since then, I just keep saying “Nope, it’s a no whining week” or “I already called it, no whining this week” not sure I can use this beyond Friday. Good luck!

Evacuated the school today for a bomb threat. The empty desks with all the left behind belongings makes me sad. Reminds me of the empty classroom 6 years ago when covid shut us down

What I love most about my job is that I can do something crazy fun because the class is getting along and engaged and the sun is shining. So, for figurative language review today we analyzed a verse from a K-pop Demon Hunters song. And because we could we watched the music video

Thank you @Apple for updating the software and automatically deciding what apps I was allowed to see while in my own house. Took me forever to figure out why I couldn’t access my apps and how to get my home screen back to the way I had it. #unimpressed

What I love most about the Christmas romance movies is the ridiculous niche jobs the women have. A Christmas sweater designer that pays enough to afford a NYC apartment with no roommates. Sign me up.

Major win in teaching today. A student came into 3rd grade not knowing all the letter sounds. Moved from a ‘whole language’ school. We did holiday phonics review pages today (don’t judge) and he asked me “is this the word frost” yes. “Is this the word frog” yes. Then…1/2

I let the kids finish with friends and this boy turned around and looked at his friends and said “guys I can read these words, I can finally read” I had to hold back tears as I emailed every one of his support staff and his mom to share the news.

Since when did medicine start being done off vibes? Went in with chest pain, numbness in arm, pressure behind my eyes and high blood pressure (after taking my regular meds). Waited hours for the doctor to tell me that he sees people with much higher blood pressure so it’s nothing
