Here we see one of the ProtoDUNE particle detectors being filled with liquid argon, a process that takes about two months. The liquid argon’s inert properties facilitate precise measurements, enhancing detection capabilities. ProtoDUNE is a prototype of the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) housed at CERN’s Neutrino Platform. It will use the proton beam from the Super Proton Synchrotron and test and validate the technologies that will be applied to the #DUNEexperiment being built in the United States.
