Another example of the 'big 6' wanting to walk all over the 'smaller' clubs. The selling club can set the value, either pay it or move on. Trophies don't come into it. If Ellliot Anderson is worth more than £100m to #nffc then that's what teams will have to pay. #bhafc
🚨 Garry Neville on Nottingham Forest valuing Elliot Anderson at more than £100M: “This is what football has become. A player with zero major senior trophies being valued at £100M — for what? I feel like they’re overpaying for these modern players. Chelsea paid £115M for Caicedo, and I feel like that’s where it all started. What have these players done to deserve that amount?”

I said it when they won the FA Cup and I'll say it again now. #CPFC have achieved exactly what we want to be doing at #BHAFC. We will rightly be looking on at these celebrations with envy, whilst still being incredibly proud of where we are and where we are going as a club.

Another season in Europe - what an achievement for #bhafc and Hürzeler. The fact we were in the conversation for a Champions League place in the final games of the season is dreamland. Whilst UECL may seem disappointing after that, that speaks volumes about how far we've come.

🗣️ Unai Emery to TNT on what the future holds at Aston Villa. "I am ambitious and, of course, I need support [from] the owners and everyone that works in the club. "And from the players, and they are following us. We are doing it together. But we must try to set our ambitions, being clear and realistic. Every step forward we are doing makes sense. "Next year we will play in Champions League and this is the challenge. The Premier League is the most difficult league in the world. To be fighting for top seven, top five, top four, is something very difficult. Hopefully we can be close with teams like City and Arsenal. Congratulations to them [Arsenal] for their title. "It's a huge challenge we have in Premier League. Why? In the beginning we are not contenders for top seven. There are top seven teams. Top six, and Newcastle is the seventh. And we are trying to get there... "And getting this trophy we are adding experiences for us. And those experiences for the players are important. Because we can play next year trying as well to be in contention for trophies."

Joao Pedro, who left a club of the stature of 'small club' Brighton for Chelsea to enhance his chances of being picked for the 2026 Brazil World Cup squad, fails to make the cut and is overlooked in favour of strikers from Brentford and Bournemouth.
🇧🇷💔 João Pedro’s family waited all evening for Carlo Ancelotti to call up João Pedro for the World Cup… but in the end, his name was never announced.

This is a very Smart move from Brighton, Fabian Hürzeler is one of the best coach currently in EPL and he’s just 33 silently going under the radar, but Brighton are playing one of the best football this season under him. There’s real substance behind it, Brighton are sitting comfortably in the top half and pushing for European spots, which already tells you the level he’s operating at. But what makes it more impressive is how they got there. It wasn’t smooth. Around February, they hit a serious rough patch one win in a long stretch, dropped down the table, and pressure started building on him. That’s usually where young managers collapse or abandon their ideas. But instead, Hürzeler adjusted, trusted his system, and flipped it. Since then, they’ve gone on strong runs, picking up big results and even turning losing positions into points more than anyone else in the league. That’s coaching impact, not luck. Tactically, you can clearly see the evolution from Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton. The identity is still there, Hürzeler sticks mainly to a fluid 4-2-3-1 that constantly morphs in possession often becoming a 2-4-4 or 4-3-3 depending on the phase. Out of possession it can drop into a compact 4-4-2 or even a 5-2-3 for stability. The real magic is the positional rotations: no one stays glued to their “number.” Centre-backs split wide and step into midfield to create overloads, full-backs bomb high (almost like wing-backs), and central midfielders drop deep or push forward interchangeably. It’s all about creating spare men everywhere baiting the press, then exploding through quick vertical passes or half-space combinations Out of possession is where it really stands out. This is where it becomes electric to watch. Brighton lead the Premier League in high turnovers (116 so far) and sit with one of the best PPDA rates (~10.5, top 4). It’s aggressive man-to-man counter-pressing, curved runs to block passing lanes, immediate 5-second chaos after losing the ball. Win it high? Straight into a direct attack or dribble – 20 of those high regains have already ended in shots this season. If Brighton sneak into Europe, people will start paying attention. Because quietly, very quietly, Hürzeler is building one of the most exciting teams in the league.
🚨🔵⚪️ Fabian Hürzeler has signed a new contract at Brighton to stay as head coach for long term project. Agreement sealed and terms in place, as Hürzeler was never close to Bayer 04 job and focused on #BHAFC plans. Official statement next, as @plettigoal @skysportde report.

Thoroughly deserved. He hs silenced most of his doubters recently. We have such a great opportunity at #bhafc to build and grow with this young manager who, like us, has such a bright future.

Fabian is so, so, so disrespected within the fanbase. The fact we’ve scored 5 goals less than “goal scoring machine” de Zerbi is bonkers, the fanbase now needs to move on and back our gaffer #bhafc

Insightful few hours at Brighton & Hove Albion’s training ground researching piece on their productive academy. Prospects like 18-year-olds Freddie Simmonds brought into first-team training by Fabian Hurzeler, not to make up the numbers but “for their long-term development”. Helps having role models like James Milner and Danny Welbeck to learn from. Clear pathway. Jack Hinshelwood highlights that (73 games already). I watched a couple of age-group games, and very noticeable was emphasis on self-expression. Also emphasis on education plus opportunity to do coaching badges (Hinshelwood got his B licence at 20). Impressive holistic approach. You can see why parents of talents want their kids to come here. Will link piece later. #BHAFC

Good post, and agree 100%. “But it’s individual brilliance” I have always found a slightly annoying, overly simplistic analysis. I have said on here before, I’d actually argue every elite sport, every game even, has moments of individual brilliance. Eg That superb cut back from Gross for Wieffers first yesterday, is technically individual brilliance. Find me a sport that doesn’t have individual brilliance. Not possible. Therefore it’s a cheap, meaningless phrase. And as you say, often used against a head coach, by fans (of any team) when it suits an agenda. To remove credit for a win. On the FH-Outers you mention, I’ve never taken it personally and appreciate not everyone will agree on a headcoach (or player), and as I see it, I remember ultimately it’s coming from a place of love and passion for your club. So I’ve never minded that difference of opinion. My only objection to some in that group, is they don’t seem to allow for growth or improvement. The mindset is, ‘I’ve seen enough, he has to go”. And there’s no allowance at all that he could improve. I just don’t understand that perspective personally. People improve and grow in life, no matter what profession or craft you’re in. And surely if you hire a 32 year old head coach, it’s baked in that there’s going to be some growing into the role. I have no doubts those same voices will be speaking up next time we have a bad patch. Fortunately Bloom ignores that noise, and I appreciate he’s an owner who supports his head coach and won’t fire them mid season after a wobbly patch. It’s an incredibly rare trait for an owner in football, and another reason why we’re lucky he’s ours.
Replying to @Brightonian_
The "individual brilliance" theory is always peddled by the FH-out brigade who can't bear to give him credit. We win - it was individual brilliance from a player. We lose - Hurzeler's fault. The tide is turning now, can't believe there are still some fans who want him out.

‘EVERY CLUB IS A SELLING CLUB’ - BLOOM “I don't view ourselves as a selling club per se, because I think that every club, almost every club, is a selling club. And by that, I'm talking about their best players going, because that's just the football ecosystem” - Tony Bloom, October 2025

Roberto De Zerbi can be credited with a lot in his term at #bhafc, but not talent ID. The only players we bought at RDZ's request were Dahoud and Igor. His difference of opinion with the board on transfer policy is a big reason why he's no longer manager.
