This is incredibly profound and important to keep in mind when pushing your athletes out of their comfort zones. Thank you Coach Kight for another gem!
Many people do not reach their full potential because they quit at the point of discomfort. Rather than embracing the hard work and doing what is required, they listen to the quitting voice and give up.
The truth is that when you reach the point of discomfort, you have more capacity than you think. Often much more.
The quitting voice lies to you about what you are capable of doing, and it lies to you about what is required for greatness. The truth is that discomfort is a necessary part of the process, so embrace it. Don’t just endure discomfort. Don’t just tolerate it. Embrace it!
If you want the great things, you have to say yes to the hard things … especially at the point of discomfort. If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t make you better.
