Does "social equity" ACTUALLY help people? π€
The social equity program in the marijuana industry is designed to help people that were disproportionately hurt by the war on cannabis to be able to join the cannabis industry and make it easier for them to participate.
But the concept of social equity and how it has been implemented has been the exact opposite of helping people join and participate in the cannabis industry.
For example, in Illinois, you get 50% off the license fee and application fee, but you still need $1 million in garbage costs to even qualify for the license.
I don't know a single person personally that has a million dollars in cash to drop on all of these garbage costs to open up a dispensary.
What black and minorities are you helping with this so-called social equity program? Please tell me I'm waiting.
You know what has worked better than social equity? The hemp legal framework. There are so many people that have started hemp businesses. I would say there are a thousand times more hemp businesses than marijuana businesses in the country.
So if your goal is helping the common average American in joining the cannabis industry, hemp has been proven to be a superior way to doing so.
So now that we've got that out of the way, we can call out the social equity program for what it is:
Deception.
They create artificial caps on the number of licenses, put a lottery in front of the process of acquiring a license so that way even if you do properly qualify for the license with your $1 million, there's still a chance you won't even get the license because of the lottery and then just the cherry on top you probably don't have the money to afford and qualify for the license anyways so literally 99% of the population is blocked.
The whole system is designed to keep you out. They use the concept of social equity and helping minorities and women and whatever to give the illusion of no wrongdoing and no corruption and no anti-trust practices.
We need to save the hemp industry. That has been the only fair and equitable Cannabis system that has ever existed in our country.
