scams are getting really wild lately.
the best way to stay 97% scam free is to know, basically acquiring knowledge in this area.
how?
- listen to other people experiences.
- read about scams, hacks and how. they happened.
- stay updated on new attack methods.
the problem is that a lot of people enter crypto and go straight into farming airdrops, grinding discord roles, chasing NFTs whitelists and hunting the next opportunity.
almost nobody teaches them how to protect their wallets, secure their funds or avoid getting hacked.
and before anyone says “that only happens to newbies” that’s not true.
even OGs get hacked and scammed.
here are a few ways to reduce your chances:
- connect only to trusted websites.
- read transaction prompts before signing anything.
- revoke approvals you no longer use.
a lot of hacks happen because we’re rushing to claim an airdrop or mint an NFT.
we connect our wallet without checking if the site is legitimate and sign transactions without reading what we’re approving.
sometimes the damage doesn’t happen immediately.
you sign something today, forget about it and weeks or months later your wallet gets drained because you previously interacted with a malicious contract.
- never sign what you don’t understand.
- reject suspicious requests.
- if something says “grant full access to your wallet” and you don’t know why, don’t approve it.
- download apps and files only from official sources.
- update your devices through official stores like the App Store or Google Play Store.
- avoid cracked software.
- use security tools ( i’m currently using
@GuardiaApp )
- ignore unsolicited DMs.
- real support teams won’t message you first or ask for wallet access, seed phrases or private keys.
- avoid crypto transactions on public Wi-Fi whenever possible.
- be careful with random Zoom, Google Meet or other call links from unknown teams. scammers often use fake meetings to compromise wallets and devices.
no security setup is perfect, but if you consistently follow these habits, you’re already far safer than most people in the space.
