The town crier in The Square, Winchester. This photograph was taken in around 1910. If @WinchesterCity ever wish to appoint a Town Crier the Ancient & Honourable Guild of Town Criers would be glad to assist.
One of the jobs that a Town Crier had in the past was to inform the town’s citizens of lost and missing animals. David Green as Torpoint’s TC could you help out with this one?😁@torpointtown
Many thanks to Guild Members, Tony Evans, Owen Collier, Pedder Nielson, Ken Brightwell, Tim Enbow & Kevin Ward for attending William Turberfield’s funeral on Monday. RIP ‘Bill the Bell’, the late TC of Ledbury.
Thank you to @HaslemereTC for allowing our guild to have their AGM at your town hall today. And thank you to all members who attended either by zoom or in person.
This week was the funeral of Maurice Jones, @FairfordCouncil s former town crier. Some of our members including Andrew Stopka, Fairford’s current crier were in attendance. A ‘Bells Up’ was given as Maurice’s coffin was lowered as a last farewell. RIP ‘Super Tanker’.
