Classic crime fiction. If you haven't read it, do. That's all I need to say.

Classic crime fiction. Erlich wrote at least five novels I've run across about parole officer Robert Flick, who gets a little too involved in his clients' lives and foibles. They are decent mysteries, though, halfway between professional investigator and ordinary guy mysteries

Classic crime fiction. A little dated, but still relevant and very solid. A career criminal is betrayed by his own mob and as he tries to find a way free of his troubles, he seeks revenge while struggling to hold onto his own code of honor.

Quasi-classic crime fiction. A drifter finds himself in a small Arizona town and turns to crime. Mostly it's about his descent from survival into true villainy. It's not great, but not bad.
