I joined the Ministerial Session of the Third Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC) between Ghana and Jamaica, held in Accra on 26th May 2026 and co-chaired by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ghana, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Jamaica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith.
The session reaffirmed the longstanding historical ties between Ghana and Jamaica, founded on shared heritage, Pan-African solidarity, and strong people-to-people relations. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, education, health, defence and security, tourism, arts and culture, as well as youth development.
The meeting concluded with the signing of key bilateral agreements, including cooperation in defence, arts and culture, and the recruitment of Ghanaian health professionals for Jamaica, alongside the adoption of the Agreed Minutes and Joint Communiqué.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations and ensuring the effective implementation of the agreements reached.
