@HCSO_VCD is completing a fatal crash investigation at the intersection of Roberts Rd and FM-2920. A U-Haul truck was traveling westbound and a Jeep with two children and their mother were traveling eastbound. Driver of the U-Haul possibly fell asleep, crossed lanes. The Jeep attempted to veer away and entered the ditch. Sadly, one child (2 yrs old) was pronounced deceased on-scene. The driver of the U-Haul, the mother and a toddler (8 month old) were all transported to hospitals for minor injuries. No signs of intoxication. #HouNews

Members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force were attempting to apprehend two felon suspects in the 100 block of West Road. The woman was taken into custody, the man was armed and died by suicide. The man was pronounced deceased on-scene. No shots were fired by any law enforcement and no injuries to any officer. CSU and @HCSOTexas Detectives are responding to conduct the scene investigation. #HouNews

On June 13, 2020, Deputy Juan Menchaca passed away after a courageous battle against COVID-19. He was a 14-year veteran of our agency and was most recently assigned to the Courts Division. He was the 47th member to die in the line of duty. Gone but never forgotten.

On June 12, 2002, Deputy Bennett responded to a home invasion. Upon arrival, a gun battle ensued and two suspects and Deputy Bennett died. He was a five-year patrol deputy and an eight-year veteran of our agency. He was survived by his wife and daughter. Gone but never forgotten.

Arrest update: The deceased victim was identified as Curtis Veazie (26) and the defendant as Elijah Walker (5/1/97). @HCSOTexas Homicide Detectives determined the incident stemmed from an on-going dispute between two roommates regarding apartment rental payments. Detectives charged Walker with Murder in the shooting death of Veazie. Walker was booked in the Harris County Jail. #HouNews

Arrest update: The deceased victim was identified as Devonta Martin (21) and the defendant as Alajai Scott (b/f, 1/8/07). On Friday, May 22, 2026, @HCSOTexas Detectives responded to a shooting at a complex at 22910 Imperial Valley. A man, later identified as Devonta Martin, had been shot in the parking lot and was confirmed deceased. Detectives learned that Martin was possibly shot by two shooters and the motive was likely robbery. On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Scott was arrested by the Violent Criminals Apprehension Team (VCAT) and @TxDPS. Homicide Detectives charged her with Murder for her involvement in the death of Devonta Martin. Scott was booked in the Harris County Jail. #HouNews
