New @mcfrs E708 (E-One) is now in service as of this morning (7/2). The ‘old’ engine pumped its last fire as E708 yesterday in Gaithersburg before going into @mcfrs reserve fleet. The Pierce engine has been FS708 since 2020.
Today, my heart is heavy with the news from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where multiple firefighters were shot in what appears to be a deliberate ambush.
This is every first responder's worst nightmare. Firefighters, who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities, were targeted while answering a call for help. No one in public safety expects to face such violence, and the impact of this tragedy extends to their families, colleagues, and the citizens they serve.
The loss of life and the injuries sustained are a profound reminder of the risks these heroes take daily. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by this senseless act of violence.
I pray that law enforcement will swiftly identify and apprehend the perpetrator(s) by any means necessary. Our communities must stand united in support of our first responders and demand justice for those who have been harmed.
This is not just an attack on individuals; it's an attack on the very fabric of public safety and community trust. Let us honor the bravery and sacrifice of these firefighters and officers by ensuring their memory and mission endure. ❤️
