Wish I caught her video, complete with metallic clanging. Her grad students, terrified of this physicist-built contraption, refused to touch it "it sounds like a guillotine" (lmao) so she went full badass American professor and did the experiments herself.

We were also happy to have Mary Roberts form @BostonCollege who presented 31P relaxometry work carried over a couple of decades with Al Redfield. Mary’s talk included a tribute to “Al’s spin spa”, such an inspiration for all of us!

In field-shuttling NMR you may hear the term "fishing line shuttle" in reference to string/pulley assemblies. That's not just a joke. At some point I looked at the cotton string they were using (prone to jams, stretching, etc), said "wtf is this", replaced it with Dyneema line.
