Nintendo fans have discovered that a Switch 2 game was cut from the English Nintendo Direct
The Touhou 6 remake was only shown on the Japanese broadcast leaving fans baffled
This is getting the Yellow-Green Pass. This is probably the easiest non-arcade-style game to pick up and play for BBC Micro that I've seen yet...even if I'm not that good at Othello.
This is the 152nd official Try It Out Tuesday clear. 84th first-day clear, 77th on a Tuesday (last was Donkey Kong on 2600 for both). 43rd BBC Micro clear (last was Ultimate Nightmare).
As for the controls, they work well! Not only are the actual BBC Micro cursor keys used here, but even using the menu isn't that bad, even if my initial misgivings of the menu controls still stand as the only nitpick that I have.
There's no sound, and there's only one piece of music, which you can take or leave. It's a good thing you can turn it off, because I can imagine it becoming annoying a little quickly. But it's there.
There's not much else to say, so it's time for the mini-review.
Graphics are bright, and there's a lot of reds and yellows and whites and blacks here. As a matter of fact, that's the four colors you'll be seeing here, and they're well utilized. Not bad for a port from Amiga/ST.
Even though even the weakest CPU opponent can destroy me, it's still fun to play. As a matter of fact, I played a few four-player games with the weakest CPU, and on the last go, I barely won it. So there's that.
Well, it plays. I can move the cursor around pretty well, the game's controls are very responsive and error free. My only complaint is that you have to quickly tap the button while holding RETURN for a few of the options, and that it can be a tad easy to overshoot an option.

To start a new game move the cursor over the 'Start' icon and press RETURN. To select a cell move the cursor over it and press RETURN. If it is yours it will go white. Now move the cursor to the desired square and press RETURN. The cell will now either move or jump to that square if the move is legal. You can use the CTRL and SHIFT keys during play to speed up the movement of the cursor.
To play again after winning, move the cursor over the 'The winner is player' text and press RETURN.

Try It Out Tuesday #439 is Infection for the BBC Micro. It's Othello. That's pretty much all you need to know about this game, because that's exactly what it is. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm just poor at it. #gaming#retrogaming#GamersUnite

Infection borrows heavily from Othello for many elements of its game design. The rules are simple: spread 1 square, twinning the piece, or jump 1 square, without twinning, and capture (infect) the nearest pieces. Movement around the board is carried out in one of two ways - firstly a cell can split in two, with the new cell going to any adjacent square. Alternatively, a cell can travel two squares in any direction without splitting or leaving anything behind. Cells can only occupy vacant squares.

Infection's playing area measure eight squares by eight, and each player (up to four at a time) starts with one cell in his respective corner. When a cell travels to a new square, any enemy cells on adjacent squares are 'infected' and change to that cell's colour - and thus cells are won and lost. When all a player's cells are lost, he is knocked out and play continues until only one contestant remains. Alternatively, the winner with the most cells is declared the winner in the event of the board being filled.

As the game progresses, some of the board's squares are blocked out by metal tiles, making the job tougher, and calling for new strategies. An 'edit board' option also exists which allows you to block out whatever and as many tiles as you want for custom games.
If you want to pass during play then move the cursor over the 'Pass" icon and hold down RETURN, move the cursor over 'Pass' and then release RETURN. To quit a game, move the cursor over the 'End' icon and press RETURN.
