Excellent short, clear explanation from Paul. If you would like to know more about Chester's #Roman defences, watch our film for the 2022 @chesterherifest 'New Walls for Old': youtu.be/rXeOLwE3CLI.
Premiering online at 12pm tomorrow as part of #CheshireWestHODs is our second Four Minute Wonder on the South East Angle Tower. Join Paul Hyde to learn how these Roman remains help to define the size, shape and location of the legionary fortress of Deva.

ALT The image put together for promoting this online Four Minute Wonder event is made up of different parts. The left hand square is purple and has the Chester Heritage Festival logo and the Title of the Four Minute Wonder which is the S. E. Angle Tower. On the right at the top is the remains of the tower and underneath an image of your guide Paul Hyde and also part of Chester walls.

Day 10, Friday. Lots of evidence for a building/s, is it the Cholmondeley’s house or an earlier building in the precinct of the Church of St John the Baptist or a complicated mixture of both?
Open Afternoon 14 May 1.30 – 4.30pm, come and see what we’ve found.
@HistArchChester

The sad demise of #Liverpool's most famous Mersey ferry "Royal Iris," where The Beatles performed. Languishing on the River Thames. It's beyond saving IMHO.

As part of the preparation for our move, we've been packaging large, heavy, & sometimes downright unwieldly volumes of court records in lovely custom made boxes, ready to be taken to our out-store down the salt mine - approx. 800 boxes so far! 💪
