Turns out the 0 gram shoe is that time Ethiopian runner Abebe Bikila did the 1960 Rome Olympics marathon barefoot and set a world record of 2:15:16 while winning Gold. He was late addition after another runner got injured and the shoes they gave didn’t fit, so he went shoeless.
Sebastian Sawe and Yomif Kejelcha both broke 2-hour mark at London Marathon 2026 with Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3. Tigst Assefa set women’s marathon record wearing it too. It’s lightest legal race day shoe ever, weighing 97 grams (3.4oz) for men’s size 9, about 1/2 the weight of a regular men’s running shoe. Adidas was able to reduce weight by 30% vs. Pro 2 model and most of improvement came from a lighter foam compound and upper part is inspired by kite surfing sail material. They U-shaped carbon fiber plate is a lighter and so are the laces lol. Adidas created Lightstrike Pro foam: uses gas injection (nitrogen) to expand billions microscopic cells which makes it ultralight and bouncy. Wild. This shoe arms race (“race to zero”) is getting out of control. Seems like 50 grams (1.7oz) may be as light as it can get. The public version release of shoe is coming up and will cost $500. *** Background on shoe: wwd.com/footwear-news/sneake… YT/ Meta Endurance: youtu.be/A6Alz0oP8_U?si=Ktdu…

On some random weekend mornings, we go out to explore this beautiful city.
We inaugurated the Addis Sports Park, a 5.7-hectare project that stands as a testament to our promise of urban renewal and the restoration of our citizens' dignity. By honouring 15 of our Olympic gold medallists with dedicated statues at the heart of this facility, we ensure their legacy inspires the next generation of Ethiopian champions. Whether it is the Olympic-standard swimming pool, the professional football, basketball, and tennis courts, or the 800-meter running track, every part of this world-class hub is built to meet international standards. True development must be centred on the community. This project is about more than elite sports, it provides 105 new commercial shops to empower community members relocated during the development process with a grand plaza for 3,000 people to gather and connect. With two levels of basement parking for 300 vehicles and a seamless connection to our riverside green projects, we are proving that a clean, modern Ethiopia is happening right now. We don’t just envision a better future, we build it! #EthiopiaDelivers #VisitEthiopia
