The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Haemophilia and Contaminated Blood is a cross party group of MPs and peers with an interest in bleeding disorders.
The APPG welcomes today's report on compensation from the @bloodinquiry. Sir Brian Langstaff's report concludes that wrongs were done and recommends that a compensation scheme be set up now. The Government must act quickly to implement these recommendations.

What impact will a general election have on compensation payments for people infected and affected by contaminated blood products? This is our understanding of the current situation. haemophilia.org.uk/pi_posts/โฆ

The findings of the report are a damning indictment on those in power. Those who who so many trusted and were let down in the most devastating way.

I welcome this landmark @bloodinquiry report. It shows how the biggest treatment disaster in NHS history became a huge scandal due to a 40 year cover-up. An apology will only be meaningful if action follows, first on compensation and then on how the state treats our citizens.

But why didnโt you do this in April 23 when Sir Brian Langstaff @bloodinquiry made his final recommendations on compensation & told the Government to start paying by the end of 23 . Why did it take the Government being defeated in @HouseofCommons in December to force you to act?
โThe time for talking is over, we need action, we need to resolve what is probably the most terrible injustice of my entire time in Governmentโ
@Jeremy_Hunt says work is ongoing inside government to allow it to swiftly respond to the Infected Blood Inquiry findings

Last week, I requested an urgent meeting with @JohnGlenUK to discuss my concerns about:
๐The failure to mention in the Budget compensation for those infected & affected by contaminated blood.
๐The lack of transparency around the Govt's expert group.

It's been two weeks since our mass lobby at Parliament - demanding immediate compensation for those infected and affected by contaminated blood. It's now almost a year since the Inquiry's recommendations and the government still won't to commit to paying full compensation.
