Hans Werner Aufrecht was one of the two original founders of AMG. (He's the "A"). But after the company was sold to Mercedes in the 1990s, he set up again on his own with another three-letter outfit, this time bearing all three of his initials. For the last quarter of a century, HWA has been quietly running Mercedes' DTM program, and building some of their most special cars like the CLK GTR and SL65 Black Series.
But now, they've set out to build a car with their own name proudly on display, the HWA EVO. And on the latest episode of The Driver's Seat, @HenryCatchpole gets behind the wheel of the prototype, and gets a front-row seat to the daunting Nurburgring 24 hour race, where three race-ready EVO.R variants went out to prove their worth.
