One of my best friends frequently reminds me that gratitude is everything in this life.
If you don’t know how much you have to be thankful for, are you even living?
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4 v6-7
Be wary of how much time you spend with people that choose to go through this life thinking they are better than others, or that they are doing things on their own without His help.
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” - Philippians 4 v13
Ungratefulness and pride are two sides of the same self destructive coin.
If you don’t thank Him for all you accomplish with His help, then you are heading for a fall, and spurning the Only One who can help you to avoid it.
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” - Proverbs 16 v8
Be like Him, learn of Him, Jesus Himself says:
“…learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” - Matthew 11 v29
If the Creator, Sustainer, and Savior of the Universe is “meek” then why should we glory in our own selves?
“Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lordwhich exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.” - Jeremiah 9 v23-25
If you don’t know Him, then you aren’t living. There is no lasting peace, love, or joy apart from a right understanding of Him.
“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 2 v3-5
The good news is, you aren’t doomed to be selfish, miserable, and ungrateful, you just need Him.
Learn of Him, gratefulness, humility, and meekness are the path to peace, joy and love.
“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” - Jude v24-25
