Today’s site visit to the Indode Dry Port Expansion and the AMG–Indode Railway Line powerfully demonstrates that Ethiopia’s economic reform rests on a solid foundation and is delivering tangible results. The AMG–Indode Railway Line represents a historic milestone as Ethiopia’s first railway infrastructure project financed entirely by a domestic private company. It is compelling evidence of the private sector’s genuine commitment to nation-building. Its completion ahead of schedule further affirms a core principle we strongly uphold: “Plan to start, start to finish.” This 3 km rail spur directly connects the Gelan Industrial Zone to the national railway network, enabling faster and more cost-efficient movement of goods—especially high-value exports such as coffee—to global markets. The Indode Dry Port Expansion will increase container storage capacity fivefold while reducing cargo loading and unloading time from 10 hours to just 2 hours. This transformation modernizes our trade logistics system and delivers faster, more competitive services. These homegrown, self-financed infrastructure investments go far beyond improving logistics efficiency—they decisively strengthen our economic sovereignty. We remain fully committed—and even more determined—to advancing Ethiopia’s position as Africa’s premier trade and industrial hub.
