#OTin2026 Takeaway for 6/15: Where the "giant" temptations/attacks get the upper hand in my life is the result of expecting to defeat them in once-for-all battle. When-in reality-they keep coming back and can only be successfully defeated when I am willing to: 1) Fight more than one battle/one enemy. ("THEY fell by the hand of David") 2) Fight with other allies. ("by the hand of his servants") ~ 1 Samuel 20:8

#OTin2026 Takeaway for 6/14: "Seek" needs to be the mantra/refrain of my life before the Lord: 1) Seeking His Person-Divine Glory 2) Seeking His Strength-Divine Enabling 3) Seeking His Face-Divine Direction ~ 1 Chronicles 16:11

#OTin2026 Takeaway for 6/13: "What will people think" is one of the greatest hindrances to my praise of my God. To be sincerely excited about glorying in/serving before the Lord is always going draw out the predictable haters-often by those close-who think I am "overdoing it." To have a heart after God's, I must choose to celebrate His presence and splendors anyway. ~ 1 Ch 15:29

Praying for all involved!
URGENT PRAYER REQUEST: I am in Moneta (near Roanoke), Virginia, to preach the 20th church anniversary of Troy Keaton and the Eastlake Community Church. The service was in a tent on campus, with close to 1,000 attendees. Ten minutes into the service, a sudden, severe weather event pulled the support poles out of the ground and blew the tent off. One of the elders of the church went to be with Jesus, and several others were seriously injured. Please pray for Pastor Troy, Eastlake Church, and this community - that the hope of our risen Savior would be theirs in abundance during this crisis.

#OTin2026 Takeaway for 6/12: "Therefore David enquired AGAIN." Just because I have a history of past victories doesn't mean I intrinsically know how to win the next one. I need to keep seeking the Lord and staying sensitive to His promptings/stirrings. ~ 1 Chronicles 14

So true!
Every day, you need to humbly admit that your tendency is to focus on you.

#OTin2026 Takeaway for 6/11: When looking with other leaders to partner with, the key metric is their HEART that should possess: 1) Focused Passion (33b) 2) Whole-Person Commitment (38a) 3) Interpersonal Unity (38b) ~ 1 Chronicles 12

#OTin2026 Takeaway for 6/10: The two feel-right-in-the-moment decisions that will predictably take me out as a leader are: 1) Disobeying what is clearly in GOD'S WORD. (13a) 2) Seeking counsel independently of GOD'S SPIRIT. (13b) ~ 1 Chronicles 10

#OTin2026 Takeaway for 6/9: While the "kings" of this present world seem to get all the energy/attention, God is taking note of those who faithfully serve in oft-overlooked spiritual offices in: 1) The Good Times (Azariah with Solomon-10) 2) The Tough Times (Jehozadak with Nebuchadnezzar-15) ~ 1 Chronicles 6

So good!
"I find that once a preacher grasps what the author intended to accomplish with the passage—how and why he wrote it—writing a powerful sermon becomes the easy part." - James Seward

#OTin2026 Takeaway for 6/8: Where I feel like prayers are "futile" is where I am focused too much upon myself and too little on the character of God. I can know that God hears me because: 1) His timing is perfect! (13a) 2) His mercies are many and tender! (13b, 16b) 3) His salvation is true! (13c) 4) His lovingkindness is good! (16a) ~ Psalm 69:13, 16

#OTin2026 Takeaway for 6/7: Where I get my relationship with God wrong is where I try to maintain it in my own efforts, wisdom, and resources. Simply put, my relationship with God is SECURE because He is STRONG. ~ Psalm 68:28, 34-35

#healthforlandon Update for 6/6/26 Although it feels like each month's update finds me a little more reluctant to do so, I know I need to for the many prayer partners who are wondering but feel hesitant-at this prolonged point-to ask...as well as for our own clarity that only comes through the untangling it requires to put our emotionally-frayed, bone-level fatigue into actual words first to the Lord and then to those with whom He has handpicked for us to do the ups and downs of life. So hear it goes again… The beginning of June finds us in transition into the next phase of diagnosis and treatment of Landon’s ongoing symptoms that affect him physically, mentally, socially, and every other level. With what we know at this point, he is continue to navigate the previously-known issues of EDS trigged by Covid, including the venous congestion in his kneck/head that was addressed via surgery back in January. Now that we have addressed this structural issue and await the surgery’s full impact over the next 6 moths, we are proactively addressing what appears to be a primary result of that issue called “mast cell activation.” (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome is an immune disorder where mast cells overreact and inappropriately release chemicals (such as histamine) into the body. This causes recurrent, severe, multi-system "spells" resembling anaphylaxis, including flushing, hives, gastrointestinal distress, rapid heart rate, brain fog, etc.) Praises: 1) Landon is making progress in taking some new prescription medications to address the mast cell issue. (Not easy to re-up after what feels like so many false starts and dead ends with other medical strategies that have only ruled out versus helping.) 2) Landon continues to exhibit a sweet, steady spirit towards his family as he works his way through each day of pain, fatigue, and isolation. (As captured in this pictured thumbs up to a recent text of encouragement from me…yours truly who is really trying to not be a “Job’s friend” type of counselor to my precious son who has been through so much more than I can fully understand let alone fix.) 3) Several individuals and churches have especially loved on our family with thoughtful words/support in the last few weeks in ways that have literally felt like God leaned down, touched our very souls, and said, “I have NOT forgotten you.” 4) Our local church continues to be a consistent source of empathy and support when our family doesn’t have quite the usual bandwidth emotionally and relationally. Prayer Requests: 1) Pray for Landon’s next virtual follow up with his main doctor (Dr. Hepworth in Denver, CO) on this Tuesday (6/9) to access a CT scan of chest and abdomen and MRV of brain taken a few weeks ago to see if there are any additional blood flow issues in these vital areas of his body. 2) Ask God to give us the mental and emotional fortitude required to keep believing that hope/healing are still worth believing in no matter what human opinions and vibes swirl around us. Objectively we know we need to, but that is much easier said than done at this point. [Practical for not just us but anyone in a similarly prolonged season—To God: “God, help the Snode’s to hang in there. To Us: “Praying for you to hang in there”/“Are you hangin in there?”] 3) And most of all…would you pray that God would completely free/heal our son from all that we are still in the thick of…so that all who know our little family would know His epically big “saving health” not just from temporal maladies but sickness of the very soul that is available to all the world!!! (This is God’s ultimate mission which means this prayer unlike our more temporally-oriented ones gets His full attention and energy.) Ps 67:1-2 “God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.” (Just read this psalm this morning and was struck by it in a powerful manner.) Thank you for continue to stand and kneel with us no matter how fatigued and worn down your own knees. With your partnership and God's grace, we are determined to keep giving a thumbs up with Landon to God's power and promises at work in and through us.

#OTin2026 Takeaway for 6/6: What a way to end a record of a lot of failures, rebellion, and poor leadership by God's people! I can have hope today-despite my own shortcomings-because God is gracious to His remnant even in exile with distinctive: 1) Elevation (27b, 28b) 2) Kindness (28a) 3) Nourishment (29-30) ~ 2 Kings 25

Loved getting this picture this evening from a friend of mine who also has his son preparing this week to serve all summer at #teenextreme camp at @ConnectPCC with my son this summer. Heidi and I are so proud to be Ian's parents and grateful for how God's Spirit is stirring and growing him!
