Our new paper is out! We investigated how stimulation waveforms commonly used in transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation influence the recruitment of peripheral sensory and motor nerve fibres
Peripheral nerve sensory fibres are recruited with less current and greater selectivity by conventional waveforms compared to high-frequency waveforms | Journal of Applied Physiology | American Physiological Society journals.physiology.org/doi/…

Thanks Lars! Yes, an important but quite overlooked and/or simplified topic in exercise physiology. I hope the field is ready to in some part renew how we look at individual variation. @ingvillodden is ready and has more findings from this study in the pipeline.

Chronic pain conditions affect 24% of the US population and account for the greatest cause of disability. In 2024, the @NIH convened a working group of pain researchers and clinicians, including @TawfikLab, to help shape the next five years of pain research funding through the HEAL Initiative. The result was a new report outlining 10 priorities for the future of pain medicine. The authors note that these recommendations are intended to invite further active discussion across the pain research community. What do you think of the 10 priorities? Full report: bit.ly/4xd3K56
