It was an absolute joy to have the Australasian Bat Society come to my hometown of Adelaide.
Following the conference we travelled to Calperum Station (near Renmark) and caught many of South Australia’s amazing bat species.

My craziest bat survey of last year - in a decommissioned army base on the border of North and South Korea.

While visiting this observatory in Yeocheon, the closest point to North Korea, my friend Miyeon told one of the soldiers that I'm a bat specialist. He told us they beleive they have bats in one of their old buildings, and asked if I'd like to check it out.
For people interested in the history of wildlife monitoring in Australia, Ross Meggs will be holding a webinar today 11am AEDT. Topics will include early camera traps (film), harp traps for bats, to the development of advanced acoustic monitoring!
