City of Dallas Economic Development Committee is discussing “Opportunity Zones 2.0” to submit for recommendation to Governor’s office. South Dallas Fair Park area continues to be a highly qualified area. Need much better distribution of why to developers this time if selected.

…Though these ARE NOT City of Dallas funds or incentives, any councilmember who ends up having an OZ fund in their district can scrutinize a particular development that is utilizing OZ money and collect data/community input about that development.

Final motion: Approval of staff recommendations for 42 census tracks to submit to Governor Abbott’s office for consideration to be designated an Opportunity Zone (2.0). Councilmembers will have until June 15th to pull a track from consideration. Passes unanimously.
