Words ring hollow when praising the love, devotion, and patience our mothers have shown us. You are the bedrock of our society and our souls. Happy Mother’s Day, and thank you for EVERYTHING you do!

Drs Kenji Inaba and Matt Martin debate “extreme non operative management” of splenic injuries using data driven and “other” debate techniques. Great review of the literature and state of the art. #splash #TCCACS2021

Today in 1910,Teddy Roosevelt discussed how to be a Citizen in a Republic. Often referred to as the “Man in the Arena” speech, it is a powerful reminder of our obligation to our society and of the value of hard work, integrity, and accountability. leadershipnow.com/tr-citizen…

I had the opportunity to work and learn from Dave when we were deployed together in Baghdad, 2007. He was always the calm voice of reason and experience, the senior who worked harder than any junior. Another fallen hero. #RIP #MilitaryMedicineHero
COL (ret.) and Dr. David Barillo was a mentor, colleague, and friend to many, devoted to the care of combat casualties, and lead burn surgeon who flew hundreds home after catastrophic injury during combat operations. Last night he died from COVID19. #RIP #heartbroken

The day that a surgeon stops enjoying work is the day to retire or change jobs. In my opinion surgery is more than a job; it is a myriad fusion including science, education, art, passion, and empathy
I totally agree; you need to enjoy your work if not it’s not for you
