Thickened Fluids Risks @RCSLT
⬆️ Increased:
- thirst and dehydration
- urinary tract infections
- early satiety
- altered bowel habits
- oral and pharyngeal residue
- LRTIs on aspirated thickened fluids
⬇️ Decreased:
- health and social-related QOL
- bioavailability of meds
