Over 1 million US dogs test positive for heartworm each year. In Europe, where heartworm was once geographically contained, we're now seeing it spread to new regions. This changing risk is why World #ParasiteAwarenessDay exists: to ensure pet owners and veterinarians have the information they need to prevent parasites before they take hold. Because prevention is always better than treatment.

Last year, we worked with @FAOLivestock to develop a publication explaining - How Prevention Can Reduce the Need for Antibiotics. It explains how actions like vaccination, biosecurity, and nutrition protects an animal against disease, and reduces the need for antibiotics. We were proud to sign on to the 'Common Principles and Actions for Sustainable Livestock Production' that was launched this week by ten associations across the global livestock value chain!
