Dr. Annelle Rodriguez says the recent conflict was disastrous, but major Israeli officials and the Israel lobby still strongly oppose giving Iran access to any resources, even funds that technically belong to Iran.
Her concern is that Trump could buckle under domestic pressure and refuse to release them.
Iran still has leverage through the Strait of Hormuz, but regional players are already looking for ways around it, including pipelines that bypass the Persian Gulf.
