Wait... $HBAR stakers can lose all pending rewards if they miss a node removal announcement?
Why not automatically pay out rewards and unstake everyone when a node is removed? #HBAR
Long term staking should be rewarded.
Hedera stakers: the COFRA council node (node 28, 0.0.31) is being removed in the v0.74 mainnet release (June 2026).
If you're staked to node 28, re-stake before the release. Re-staking pays out pending rewards in the same transaction. Unclaimed rewards are forfeited at removal.

Btw, I just read this.
The COFRA node was removed today after its 3 year @Hedera Governing Council term ended. You can no longer unstake from it, which highlights the issue I'm talking about.
