ALT Purdue SLHS is excited to announce a new course, SLHS 41900H - Hearing and Music Perception, offered by Assistant Professor Malinda McPherson in Fall 2025! This intro-level course offers an in-depth examination of auditory perception and music cognition. Key topics include acoustics, the physiology of the auditory system, the perception of pitch, loudness, timbre, and harmony. Additionally, the course covers musical evolution, cross-cultural perspectives on music, music development, disorders of musical processing, music therapy, and other related topics. This course is open to all majors and has no prerequisites. Stay tuned for more information!
ALT We're excited to welcome Jane Mondul as an Assistant Professor to @PurdueSLHS! Her expertise and commitment to her field will undoubtedly benefit both our students and the broader Purdue SLHS community. We’re excited to have her on board—please join us in welcoming her! Dr. Mondul holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Neuroscience from St. Olaf College. She earned her Au.D. with a specialty in pediatrics from Vanderbilt University after completing her clinical externship at the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Vanderbilt University and postdoctoral research training in Auditory Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Mondul's research investigates the effects of sound experience on cochlear anatomy, auditory physiology, and hearing in noise abilities. #PurdueSLHS #PurdueHHS #Audiology
