This weekend made me realize that, definitely, I won’t stay in France if I ever leave my current job. The grass is definitely greener in other countries, for my specific case, at least. #education #tesol #teachertrainer

I am always sad to leave London.. but I was not expecting London (or fate? Whatever.) to do everything possible to make me stay like closing down the Gatwick Express line or any line remotely related to Gatwick Airport ? 🤣 #stranded

Also I am sooo relieved that the presentation went well because it’s literally the two topics I’d like to combine for my doctorate : #multilingualism and #teachereducation ❤️ It felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be #teachertraining #conference

So I need time to process today … but in a nutshell, #thefutureoftraining at @IHLondon was truly a blast. I met wonderful people, got congratulated by Adrian Underhill (!!) and delivered my first full length conference to a full house ✨ #tesol

Just received a text from a former student of mine, probably one of the best students I ever had. She just finished her CELTA: she told me that I inspired her so she decided to become an English teacher ❤️ #inspiration #teacher

My former BA teacher asked me to meet his new students to talk about my academic journey and my current job 😱 didn’t see that one coming #education #tefl #tesol

The simple fact that the only reason an English learning company is being used by an official government says a lot. But the fact that the only trope is accentism says even more when it comes to #education in #france 🤬 #tesol

Oh and the so-called English learning company which promotes accent discrimination ? They currently have a contract with @education_gouv 🤬 The French government publicly encourages #accentism and most importantly #discrimination

This is discrimination. This is promoting native speakerism. Promoting accentism at an early age is actually the best way to encourage dismissal, loss of motivation as an adult, and again, it encourages discrimination! #nativespeakerism #fail

The bright side of my rant against #nativespeakerism is that clearly, I chose a very current topic for my doctorate (plurilingualism and teacher education). not sure I’ll go to the US now but there’s other universities 🤣 #PhD #EdD #doctoralprogram #education

I wasn’t expecting to have to defend non native speakers #NNST today but here we go.. no, having a native as a teacher won’t make you fluent. No, having an accent is not something you should care about.

No, there’s not a “good” accent or a “bad” accent. The worst part of the talk? It was given by monolinguals speakers of French. You shouldn’t even call yourselves teachers. #edtechday #education #teaching
