China has overtaken the DR Congo as Rwanda’s largest export destination, marking one of the most significant shifts in the country’s trade patterns in recent years. The development comes following the introduction of zero-tariff access for products from Rwanda and other least-developed countries, a move that has opened new opportunities for exporters seeking entry into one of the world’s largest consumer markets. Officials say the policy shift is already reshaping Rwanda’s export landscape, strengthening trade flows between Kigali and Beijing.
