x.com/ZVidocque/status/20656… INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- The United States' World Cup opener was a magical Hollywood party except for one prominent question. First, the unquestionably good: With a relentless attack, ruthless finishing and an opening half to rival the best 45 minutes in U.S. men's national team history, the Americans ripped through Paraguay 4-1 to start this home tournament in the sweetest of styles Friday. It was all the U.S. could have wanted. The three-goal margin of victory was the United States' largest at a World Cup since a pair of 3-0 wins in the inaugural tournament in 1930. But now the curious: Christian Pulisic, the star midfielder, was substituted at halftime after delivering a world-class performance. He told reporters afterward that he was taken off as a precaution after getting a kick to his left calf, adding that he's "really hoping that it's nothing." - Pulisic subbed off at halftime with USMNT rolling - USMNT rolls past Paraguay -- as it happened It was, in many ways, the only thing that went sideways for the U.S. The 70,492 fans at SoFi Stadium -- very few of whom were cheering for Paraguay -- celebrated from nearly the opening kickoff. "That is what we were waiting for," U.S. head coach Mauricio Pochettino said of the fans' support. "When you talk about America -- that passion, that feeling -- today they were amazing, and now they realize that soccer here in America is massive. Be careful other sports." Folarin Balogun scored twice in the first half to become the first American with two goals in a World Cup game since the inaugural edition in 1930, and Pulisic was electric before his exit. Pulisic assisted on Balogun's first goal and set the table for a Paraguay own goal in the seventh minute that opened the doors for a U.S. blowout. "In the first 45 minutes, I said we were amazing," Pochettino said. "It's difficult to find a team to play like this. So happy and so proud." Deep into stoppage time, substitute Giovanni Reyna delivered the perfect final flourish with the outside of his right foot that showcased the talent that U.S. fans have yearned to see from him on this kind of stage.

x.com/i/broadcasts/1qGvvvRRd… Toronto, Canada — Nadia, a Bosnia and Herzegovina supporter who did not share her surname, stood out in her deep blue shirt as a sea of red-adorned Canada fans swarmed around her outside the Toronto Stadium an hour before kickoff to their FIFA World Cup 2026 opening game. With the blue and yellow Bosnian flag draped around her, she found herself among the minority of “away” fans on Canadian soil on Thursday, less than two weeks after her team was given a warm welcome to the World Cup cohost nation. It reminded Nadia, an immigrant, of her arrival in Canada in the mid-1990s when her family fled the Bosnian genocide that killed about 100,000 people and displaced more than two million. “I wish I had space for two hearts so I could properly support both my countries,” Nadia told Al Jazeera when asked about her allegiance as loud roars of the crowd spilled out of the stadium behind her. Nadia admitted her heart was ultimately with Bosnia, but the Canada cap she sported was a nod to the country that became home when she had to flee hers. Earlier in the day, thousands of Bosnia supporters turned Toronto into a sea of blue as they marched towards the match venue in the city’s downtown while chanting “Free Palestine” to thunderous claps. “They [Palestinians] should be free, enough with the wars and genocide,” Nadia said as her eyes welled up with tears. She took a deep breath before adding: “There is so much suffering, especially for the children.”

HSNB Comment ! We expressed our opinion on the enlargement of the European Union to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen! We are EU citizens in the editorial office, some of us were in the war in Ukraine and generally have personal experience with Ukrainians and Moldovans in terms of their national customs, their relationship to democratic values and their historical manifestations, on which side they stood during the European crises in the 19th and 20th centuries! They say that every nation has it in its genes and the Ukrainian nation definitely has it in its genes! Instead of apologizing for their participation in the genocides of World War II against the Polish army and Polish citizens, they are starting to use this share in war crimes as an example for their current army - see. the step of President Zelensky and the naming of some special military units of the Ukrainian army after members of the UPA leadership during World War II!

x.com/i/broadcasts/1dGYlldDA… HSNB NEW YORK — Elon Musk became the world’s first trillionaire after shares of his rocket company SpaceX soared in Wall Street’s biggest initial public offering of stock. Shares in SpaceX jumped more than 19% after opening for trading Friday, a sign that investors are looking past the billions the company is losing and instead betting that its massive investments in satellites, orbital data centers and artificial intelligence will pay off in the future. SpaceX opened around midday at $150 a share, then rose to around $168, before finishing the day just below $161. That price gave the company a market value of $2.1 trillion, making it the sixth largest public U.S. company — larger even than its founder and CEO’s other big business, the electric vehicle maker Tesla. Between his holdings in SpaceX and Tesla, where he is also CEO, Musk is now worth an estimated $1.1 trillion, according to Forbes. Why SpaceX is going public now Musk says SpaceX, founded in 2002, is going public now because it needs money to fund its ambitions of putting satellites and data centers in space and eventually establishing a colony of people on Mars. He marked the opening of trading on Nasdaq by joining a ceremonial bell ringing from Starbase, the South Texas home of SpaceX. He reiterated his lofty goals “to make life multiplanetary.” “Not just a few astronauts, I mean literally you,” Musk said. “Whoever you are watching this, SpaceX wants to be able to take you to the moon, take you to Mars and ultimately beyond.”

x.com/WFMCassociation/status… Live updates: Tornadoes rip through Illinois, Indiana amid severe outbreak. With many still cleaning up debris and working to restore power following a night of intense winds and storms, the Chicago area was again battered by severe weather Thursday. Multiple confirmed tornadoes were reported in Streator and in Dwight, sparking warnings in LaSalle, Grundy and Kankakee counties. A large and damaging tornado also made its way through Lake and Porter counties in Indiana, according to officials.

x.com/i/broadcasts/1OxwbbRqV… TOP SPORT TODAY: MEXICO CITY -- Mexico manager Javier Aguirre emphasized the emotional component of kicking off the 2026 World Cup at the Azteca on Thursday weighed on certain players, attributing careless errors on nerves in a 2-0 win over South Africa. "It's a brutal setting, it makes your legs shake a bit. You come from the training center [CAR] to the stadium and that makes the players say, 'wow,'" Aguirre said after the match. "It's a very strong emotional state, that's what I attribute it to."Never in 25 games have we had players suffer from cramps and here we had three. It's an emotional issue; making mistakes on easy passes weighed heavily on them, but not on everyone. The atmosphere weighed on them a little, not on everyone, but it did on some. Fortunately, they calmed out. We kept possession, we got into the opponent's area, we never suffered defensively." The players' emotions could be seen after each goal, particularly after Raúl Jiménez scored in the second half. Jiménez found the back of the net and immediately began crying during his celebration, dedicating the goal to his father who recently passed away. Though Mexico won a game in which two South Africa players were sent off, Aguirre said the team could've scored more goals on a night when it had numerous chances, particularly in the first half. "It was a 2-0 game. It could have been 4-0 and nobody would have said otherwise," Aguirre said. "4-0 was the scoreline. The fans have the right to boo. I didn't hear the boos. The fans are happy with the 2-0, but they would have been much happier with 4-0. The important thing is that we have the three points."

The Mexico manager revealed he's not thinking about topping Group A at the moment, focusing instead on the next match. "Right now, the match against Korea is the most important thing," Aguirre said. "Everything else is just a matter of adding and subtracting, but it's not our priority either. We're focused on Korea, on being better than them, step by step, seeing what the future holds."Aguirre added that Edson Álvarez will likely step into the starting lineup for the upcoming match after César Montes received a red card in the second half of the game. Montes' card brought the total number of reds in the game to three, a record for an opening match at a World Cup. "Edson will end up playing center back because of César's expulsion," Aguirre said. "I opted for [Erik] Lira because Edson arrived with only four minutes of playing time. We put a lot of pressure on him, so he arrived prepared. I spoke with him about César's red card, and it's likely that Edson will play center back." Mexico rounds out group play against Czechia on June 24.

x.com/WFMCassociation/status… The patrons of Madison Square Garden stayed attached to each other well after, not able to believe what they had witnessed -- the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history. OG Anunoby etched himself into Knicks and NBA lore with a performance that put New York on the brink of winning its first NBA title since 1973. His tip-in off a Brunson miss -- barely getting his fingertips on it -- was the difference in the Knicks' 107-106 win over the San Antonio Spurs that saw them rally from a 29-point deficit. Brown challenged Anunoby at halftime to be more active on the offensive glass, and it was almost as if fate had intervened when Anunoby outreached the long and athletic Dylan Harper and Devin Vassell for the basket. Anunoby inbounded the ball to Brunson, who unleashed a deep 3 with 4.3 seconds left.By 2.1 seconds, Anunoby's fingers were on the ball, touching history. "You have to have a little luck in life," Brown said. "You've got to have a little luck in sports. But you can also make your luck too. So you've got to have some natural luck and some luck where you're going to make your own luck, and that was probably the biggest message." Anunoby was intent on not leaving anything to chance, chasing down Spurs guard De'Aaron Fox to block a layup attempt with 11.7 seconds left when Fox could have held on to the ball and gotten fouled as San Antonio was nursing a one-point lead. Fox made several critical errors late that held the door ajar for a Knicks comeback, and Anunoby, who has never made an All-Star team, put himself in position to win NBA Finals MVP with his steady performance through four games. "We know it's a game of runs," said Anunoby, who is averaging 23.8 points per game on 58% shooting this series. "We're a resilient group. We've been through a lot. We've come back plenty of times when we're behind. Just staying with it, weathering the storm, not being too down or angry or frustrated. Just staying with it, cut down to 18, cut it down to six, push it through. It's a 48-minute game, just play 'til the end." More than a couple of shots bounced around the rim before the Knicks completed the comeback that eclipsed the previous record: the Boston Celtics' rallying from down 24 against the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4 of the 2008 Finals. Both rallies resulted in the winning team taking a 3-1 lead, and the Celtics clinched that series in six games to end their 12-year title drought. The Knicks are about 72 hours away from a chance at ending five decades of championship futility. Jose Alvarado was noted as an unsung contributor, as Brown turned to him late to take Brunson off the ball and present another option. All eight of his points came in the fourth quarter, setting the stage for Anunoby and Brunson to bring things home. "It's unbelievable," Brown said. "You know, the tip, how he had to control it and tip it in, and then like I said, you know, that has to be the most iconic shot in the history of New York basketball." These Knicks have made a habit of late comebacks in the playoffs, never fully allowing themselves to believe they were out of a game. The Spurs shot 20% in the second half after shooting a blistering 60% in the first 24 minutes, and some fans were booing as the Knicks left the floor at halftime down 27. Brown didn't show much film and didn't address the team for a while at the break, preferring to let the players ruminate in their thoughts. All the work they had done in winning two games in San Antonio was about to be erased, and the massive expectations seemed to be suffocating. "Really wasn't that much to be said at that point," Brunson said. "It was really just we need to chip away. We need to hit singles, get on base and make plays from there." The Knicks were out of character in the first half. They were intent on laying wood to Victor Wembanyama after Wembanyama's shove of Brunson in Game 3 but seemingly abandoned their principles as the Spurs hit everything in sight. Karl-Anthony Towns was in early foul trouble, and Mitchell Robinson picked up a flagrant foul 1 for nailing Wembanyama in the face with a forearm in plain sight of the officials. But soon after the third quarter began, it became apparent the Knicks were going to make a game of it; it was reminiscent of Game 1 of the East finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, when they stormed back from a 22-point deficit in the fourth quarter to earn the win in overtime and effectively end that series before it started.

x.com/i/broadcasts/1yJAPPvmr… LATEST FROM BELFAST: Water cannon fired in latest disorder after Belfast knife attack.A water cannon has been deployed to disperse a large crowd after a second night of disorder in Northern Ireland following the Belfast knife attack. Riot police came under sustained attack from a group throwing bricks, bottles and pieces of wood at a major roundabout to the north-west of Belfast. Additional officers were drafted in but Wednesday's disorder was not on the same scale as Tuesday's violence. Public transport shut down across Northern Ireland and some schools closed early on Wednesday ahead of any disruption. Belfast city centre was deserted after many businesses shut up shop by lunchtime. The cannon was deployed at the Sandyknowes roundabout in Glengormley, about eight miles (13km) north-west of Belfast city centre. Footage showed dozens of people dressed all in black and wearing face coverings tearing up the driveways and fences of nearby houses to use as missiles. A large Department for Infrastructure vehicle was seen in flames, and bins were set on fire. The crowd attempted to set fire to a derelict property in the same area, with some throwing petrol bombs at police lines. It seems they were trying to get close to a hotel which houses asylum seekers. There have been protests elsewhere in Northern Ireland but they have been largely peaceful. In east Belfast, where there was major trouble on Tuesday, about 150 people gathered amid a large police presence. Police said there was little trouble and few arrests had been made. More than 100 people gathered at row of houses near the Ulster University campus in Coleraine, County Londonderry. Some of the crowd remonstrated with police about the houses of multiple occupation (HMOs) and those living in them before before finishing up. In Derry, police advised motorists to avoid the Ardmore Road at the Church Brae junction due to items on fire. About 140 protesters had gathered at the Stormont estate in Belfast.

x.com/WFMCassociation/status… LATEST SPORT NEWS: Is England v Costa Rica delay a sign of things to come? England head coach Thomas Tuchel said the delay to their World Cup warm-up game with Costa Rica gave them a "little taste of what can happen" - but will that prove to be an understatement? The match was due to start at 21:00 BST in Orlando, Florida, but heavy rain and thunderstorms pushed it back an hour to 22:00 BST. Weather delays have been a major talking point in the build-up to this year's World Cup, with several matches in last year's Fifa Club World Cup in the United States impacted by thunderstorms. This was not the first tournament warm-up game to suffer delays caused by storms either - and many fans are concerned it could become a theme throughout the World Cup. "We were aware of that before - now we experience it," Tuchel told ITV before the game. "It's no problem. "It should not be an excuse to lose our mood or patience or to lose our hunger to play the game. "No problem at all. We realised it when we were still at the hotel so it was easy. We just said half an hour later in the bus and let's go." Fans who had already arrived at Inter&Co Stadium were told to evacuate from the stands and retreat to a safe position on the concourses to avoid lightning strikes. Thunderstorms in the US are not uncommon, but when it comes to them impacting matches, Fifa has no power to make its own rules and must adhere to the advice of local authorities. Recommendations of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are used and they say if any lightning strike is detected within eight miles of a stadium, the game has to be stopped. A mandatory 30-minute countdown begins and each time there is a lightning strike inside the distance, the countdown clock resets to 30 minutes. If a full 30 minutes has elapsed, the supporters can go back to their seats and players will have a short warm-up. 'It might not be the worst thing to experience' For fans watching around the world, delays could significantly impact their viewing experience - with an hour or two potentially the difference in watching or missing a match. Scotland, for example, play Haiti on 14 June at 02:00 BST. With fans already facing a dilemma in terms of when to cram in sleep, a delay of even one hour could result in them having to end up missing the game altogether. For England, with kick-off times in the group stage at 21:00 BST and 22:00 BST, the impact would be less major. "It might not be the worst thing to experience," former Scotland defender Rachel Corsie told BBC Radio 5 Live. "My experience when I played in America it happened almost every weekend. "The bit I hated the most was the fuelling part and the psychology of the fuelling. The routine and what you eat is big psychologically to your preparation." Ex-England captain Steph Houghton added: "I think that was one of the question marks of the World Cup being in America, Canada and Mexico. "There was the potential storms could affect the rhythm of the game."

x.com/i/broadcasts/1yJAPPvmr… Latest SPORT-ANALYIS: NBA Finals betting tips, DFS picks for Game 4: Expect Wembanyama, Brunson, other stars to show out. The first three games of the NBA Finals have been tight, with the road team triumphant in each, and Game 4 at Madison Square Garden carries massive stakes that can swing the series. The New York Knicks lead the series 2-1, but the San Antonio Spurs' 115-111 Game 3 win changed the tone, with the Spurs erasing a halftime deficit and snapping the Knicks' 13-game playoff winning streak. Victor Wembanyama is coming off a 32-point performance and has averaged 10.5 more points in Spurs wins than losses this postseason. Stephon Castle helped give San Antonio the poise it needed on the road, while for the Knicks, the focus shifts back to Jalen Brunson, who scored 32 in Game 3 but continues to battle efficiency issues against a Spurs defense willing to trap and crowd him. New York can take a commanding 3-1 lead with a bounce-back win, while San Antonio can even the series and reclaim momentum before it shifts back home. Game 4 has all the ingredients for another classic. Let's dig further into the matchups to identify some betting angles and DFS value picks for Game 4. Dylan Harper 25 points, rebounds and assists (-102) The rookie has looked like a veteran in the Finals and has cleared this prop in two of the first three games while playing 28.2 MPG. Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson has increased Harper's minutes in each of the past two games. Harper has averaged 13.3 field goal attempts, 13.0 rebound chances and 6.0 potential assists per game in the series, giving him multiple paths to clear this line. Mikal Bridges 13 points ( 102) Bridges' Game 3 dud was less about shot quality and more about involvement. He finished with two points on only five shot attempts in Game 3 with Brunson posting a 38.4% usage rate. That came after Bridges scored 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting in Game 2. With 73.0% of Bridges' made field goals this postseason coming off assists, he'll be much better positioned for success if New York gets back to ball movement and helps him find rhythm through catch-and-shoot looks instead of isolation. Bridges has scored at least 13 points in 52 of 80 games this season in which he has played at least 28 minutes. Top Daily Fantasy Values of the Day $8,000 salaries Victor Wembanyama, C, Spurs ($13,200): Wembanyama has scored at least 51 fantasy points in every game this series, including 61.5 in Game 3. The Spurs go as Wemby goes this postseason, and that was evident during his 32-point performance in Monday's win. Wembanyama is averaging 10.5 more PPG in Spurs wins than losses this postseason, which would be the 10th-largest gap by any player to reach the Finals. San Antonio needs to even the series; teams up 3-1 in best-of-seven series are 288-15 in those series, including 37-1 in the Finals. Wembanyama is also firmly in play as a captain option.Jalen Brunson, PG, Knicks ($10,800): Brunson remains a strong option due to his 38.0% usage rate so far in the series. He has scored at least 35 fantasy points in three consecutive games, including at least 44 in each of the last two, despite shooting just 36.7% from the field. The Spurs' defensive pressure has made his looks tougher, but it has not pushed him out of the center of the Knicks' offense. Brunson should remain aggressive as a scorer, and he could also lean more into his playmaking in Game 4. $6,000-$7,900 salaries Stephon Castle, SG, Spurs ($8,800): Castle finished with 40.8 fantasy points in Game 3, his best performance of the series so far. He has taken at least 14 shots in every game, while also contributing rebounds and assists. Castle was especially aggressive in Game 3, getting downhill and taking a personal series-high six free throw attempts. As long as his usage remains steady, he is a solid DFS play in Game 4. Dylan Harper, PG/SG, Spurs ($6,400): The rookie continues to shine on the Finals stage. Harper has scored at least 28 fantasy points and played at least 28 minutes in every game this series. He could unlock even more upside in Game 4 if he attacks the basket more often instead of settling for jump shots. Harper already provides DFS players with a strong floor, but his ceiling is even higher if his aggressiveness increases.
