Been feeling bleak for the past week after I read an essay saying the market for middle-grade books has collapsed because kids can no longer read them. Two long-time publishers of middle-grades have shuttered, with more to come. We don’t appreciate what a crisis this is.

"An MIT professor says AI writing isn't just plagiarism — it's students 'paying someone else to learn for them.' And students couldn't even quote back their own AI-written essays." AI use "destroys the cognitive training writing is meant to provide." More in comments

A moment those kids will never forget. Third grade teacher promised her class hot chocolate if she made this shot.

I woke up to an acceptance for 2 poems I wrote a while ago. It's a very small thing in a huge world of challenges but that doesn't stop me being glad. 🦋

Congratulations, Bruce. Good luck!
Got my first-ever book signing tonight! The nerves are giving way to excitement. I've practiced my short little talk & I am ready to do this!

I had the strangest dream last night. Something about the light we perceive in the stars being akin to the neuroactovity in our brains. We perceive time as now, but what we’re living is already a memory to heaven. Like living on a delay. Anyway, in the dream, time caught up and heaven and matter became one in me. It was neat.

Agree.
Hearing a teenager use the word "unalive" in the library this morning makes me wanna unalive myself. I know language evolves, but MY GOD THIS IS EMBARRASSING FOR EVERYONE IN THE ENGLISH-SPEAKING WORLD

Hi consider this your friendly reminder to do physical things (ie: work in the garden, clean, go for a walk) when you’re feeling stuck with your WIP because, inevitably, ideas will come the second you stop actually *thinking* about it
