Hidden Value Gems is back! After six months focused on private projects, I realised how much I missed engaging with readers, learning from others, and sharing ideas! The first post in the restart series covers a key takeaway from 2025: stop focusing on market outlooks — focus on individual opportunities instead. New post is live 👇🏼

Interesting chart: S&P equal-weight outperformance is similar to 2000, when it outperformed the cap-weighted index by an impressive 18pp.

Have I seen this chart already? $WRB is a specialist insurance still run by its founder (the largest shareholder), trading at 14x P/E. Mitsui Sumitomo (10% holder) increased its stake recently.

For those interested, this article shows the inventories around Buffett's first silver purchases - looks like they were 50-80 mln oz when Buffett got involved. FWIW, current inventories are ~425 mln oz (see next post) - metalmarket.eu/en/blog/when-…
Did you know that Buffett bought 111 million oz of Silver back in 1997? That's more than 10% of current global demand. Fascinating story - link in the next post. #Buffett #Silver #Berkshire

Hargreaves Services, a little known UK small-cap, reported a 46% and 23% growth in revenue and EBITDA, raising interim dividends ( 5%) and announcing plans for a £15mn capital returns (via a tender offer at a premium to market price) - 6.5% of the Mkt Cap. I presented Hargreaves to my Premium subscribers in 2024.

Good advice 👇🏼 "Bill Ruane consistently said that you will make more money from your six best ideas in life than from everything else you do. You really need to know what your six best ideas are. It’s okay to not be excited about everything. It’s okay to not find a great idea for a year or two. When you find that great idea, you want to buy it in size. Sometimes you have to trust your gut." - David Poppe, Giverny Capital AM

In my latest post on 2025 takeaways, I discuss how I ended up buying Silver stocks, the difference between speculation and investing in a cyclical company and what sectors may be set up for a new bull market in the future. Staying open-minded rather than being dogmatic is the most important quality for investor, imho. Sign up to receive more posts from me in the future 👇🏼 #Silver #Commodities #Cycles

First time, as a long-term $BRK.B holder, that I regret Buffett avoiding natural resources for so long. Still, glad he built out the power and gas pipeline businesses. Exciting that the guy who helped build Berkshire Energy is now running the whole company. Curious what his first shareholder letter will focus on 🤔

There is value in the UK stock market. "Beazley shares jumped to a record high on Monday after Zurich said it submitted a plan to buy the company for 12.80 pounds a share—at a generous 56% premium based on Friday’s closing price of 8.20 pounds." $BEZ.L
