80 yrs ago today, Paul Tibbets piloted Enola Gay over Hiroshima. Following was Necessary Evil w/ navigator Russell Gackenbach. Found the signed Tibbets photo in a store. In '14, I met Gackenbach; he signed his plane photo, but the ink didn't hold. Today, both sit on my bookshelf.

How do you narrow down history's classic arms? When @ShootingTimesUS presented the idea, I thought it'd be easy. It wasn't. Here are the guns I picked as classics in 6 categories. Writers have thick skin; take a look, come back, and tell me why I'm wrong. shootingtimes.com/editorial/…

The final chapter of Vincent Van Gogh's life came to an end 135 years ago today. Supposedly, this revolver was responsible. Someone believed in the story a great deal, but not me. WATCH: youtu.be/I-PsQS6jVNQ?si=ZHyC…

It's 1896: McKinley's president, Nicholas II got crowned, Sousa's dropping patriotic bangers…and I’m rocking a clip-fed pistol like it’s the Gilded Age. Wait, 2025? Yep. The KelTec PR57: 21 rounds of 5.7x28 in a semi-auto fed by a stripper clip. 139 years of progress be damned!

On 6/6/44, "That’s All, Brother" led the airborne invasion of Normandy. Piloted by Lt. Col Donalson, TAB led 800 C-47s that dropped 13,000 paratroopers into a battle that changed history - and I got to go for a ride! Come along! WATCH: youtu.be/fzshg1mBNEs?si=-aFx…

114 yrs ago today, this ad was in the 6/1/1911 edition of "Arms and the Man." Claims the boy "would not be able to move for a week" if he endured the "fierce recoil" w/o a Maxim Silencer. Also, the .22 cal silencer cost $5 (~$175 today) & no stamp/registration! cc: @AmSuppressor

People often describe gun parts as "milspec" as a term of endearment, as if parts that are good enough for the military are good enough for the rest of us. In reality, milspec standards can be rather poor, and history shows this to be true. WATCH HERE: youtu.be/MgO2X7it6zc

There was a time when you could walk into the White House uninvited with a rifle & walk out with the president to shoot on the National Mall near the Washington Monument. It might sound crazy, but that's exactly what Christopher Spencer did in 1863! WATCH: youtu.be/nPnJ_2S9_Co
