@cityofhamilton are pleased to invite you to attend the official launch of Black History Month in Hamilton, taking place this Friday, January 31, 2025 from 12 to 2:30pm at Hamilton Public Library - Central Branch.
The event is themed, “THE ART OF COMMUNITY”. Art has served from antiquity to the modern era as a powerful medium for expressing Black identity, culture, aspirations and resilience.
Through music, visual arts, dance, and literature, Black artists have documented their experiences, challenged distorted narratives, and illuminated the beauty and diversity of their communities.
We continue this legacy by showcasing for this year's Black History Month launch, the work of local artists and vendors, including a special exhibit from Roger and Kareem Ferreira.
As part of this year’s We Are Hamilton – Black History Remembered initiative, two new honourees will be recognized for their remarkable contributions: Reverend George Edmund Fitzgerald Horton and Haydain Neale.
