The Clink Charity regretfully announces that its restaurant at HMP Styal will close its doors on the 31 July 2025. We have worked closely together for 10 years, offering training and employment opportunities , as well as providing a socially conscious, award-winning experience.

The Princess of Wales visited HMP/YOI Styal’s Mother and Baby Unit as royal Patron of Action for Children.
Her Royal Highness discussed with staff how the Mother and Baby Unit supports early childhood development and helps reduce reoffending.

Our security teams work hard to keep our prison safe for both staff and prisoners.
New laws will now make it an offence for anyone to upload videos, audio recordings and photographs taken in prison to social media.

We hosted a successful visit from GXO Logistics this week, involving a really productive and informative chat with prisoners around employability on release. Great to have contacts on board that are able to offer more diverse opportunities and career guidance for leaving custody

How does money in prison work?
Prisoners are not allowed to use cash in prison, but they have a prison money account that you can send money in to and which their prison wages are paid into. Any money they came into prison with is also put into this account.

Engaging with the local Parish Council to explore opportunities that have a positive impact on our local community. Supported by our women being given the opportunity to display some artwork at the Gallery at Earlams (community run café and gallery in Styal village) 👏😊

As we progress the project we will hopefully be able to increase the opportunity of women accessing Release on Temporary Licence (RoTL) to do both paid work and voluntary placements in the local community and beyond.
