California-Nevada AFS Annual Meeting is going to be in Long Beach this year. Symposia and abstract submissions are open (symposia submissions close Dec 16) and we'd love to see a bunch of Southern CA fish folks there! Let me know if you have any questions!

Sprouting Asclepias speciosa,
the showy milkweed (I hope). Someday I hope to have reproducing Monarch butterflies in my yard. instagram.com/p/CaQxvwcl0yN/…
Got out of the field and got this email… I’m a @CASeaGrant fellow! Like what?! Could not have done this without @SoraLKim, @JimHobbs, Alison Weber-Stover, and my editor/support system @ecolangie! 🐆🦈
Today is otolith extraction day in the Fish and Movement Ecology Lab! MS student Chloe hopes these ear bones can tell us how migratory rainbow smelt spend their time across salinity gradients. Thx @BenDW protocols patience.

Can’t scapegoat fish for godawful contracting practices.
The Enhanced Delta Smelt Monitoring Program recently completed phase 3 sampling for 2020. Over 2,700 hundred tows/samples from Jun to Nov and only 22 delta smelt, only 2 fish since the late summer heat waves. Impressive amount of effort.
