Marvin Jones, Ed.D., a 25-year veteran educator with Charles County Public Schools (CCPS), has been appointed Superintendent of Schools for Essex County Public Schools in Virginia. His appointment was approved yesterday by the Essex County School Board and is effective July 1.
Jones – who currently serves as the CCPS Chief of Schools – recently announced his June 30 retirement from CCPS. While he leaves behind a 25-year legacy of leadership and commitment to CCPS staff and students, Jones said he looks forward to the next step in his career as Superintendent.
“Moving on from Charles County Public Schools is such a bittersweet decision, my having had such a long and fulfilling experience here, but as difficult as it is to leave, I am just as excited about the next phase of my career. I look forward to the opportunity to impact so many children and families in Virginia, just as I have in Maryland all these years,” Jones said.
