Disconnect between internal and external valuation is a chasm. No ball knower expected anything of substance from Essendon this season, but no one in club management has the strength of will to get their fans (read:coterie members), or apparently players, onboard with reality.

Richmond coach Adem Yze has clarified the Tigers hope to play Sam Cumming through the entire 2026 campaign - the plan is post-season surgery on his shoulder rather than mid-season.
Yze also keen to persist with Noah Balta as a forward-ruck and excited by the partnership he could form with Toby Nankervis once the skipper returns from his hamstring injury.
