Congratulations to my friend & @deepsouthtoday board member @HopeCUbill on today’s groundbreaking for the HOPE Economic Empowerment Center here in Jackson, MS. The work that Bill and @HopeCreditUnion have done to provide services to communities in multiple states is remarkable.
Congratulations @aisha_nyandoro!! You and the team at @SpringboardToOp are so deserving of this award. Thanks for showing the world how smart, strategic investments can transform lives.
Y’all better listen to this icon’s stories. Some of you want to engage in a nostalgia that erases the horrors and degradation of American apartheid in order to tell a feel-good story of progress. Reggie Jackson refused to allow it. We cannot move on as so many want until we tell the truth and until we make repair.
Chilling stories of enduring racism from the legendary Reggie Jackson in response to @AROD's question about returning to Rickwood Field.
"I wouldn't wish it on anybody."
Tells how people threatened to burn down the apartment he was staying at.

What are our social obligations to each as Americans? In other words, what is the substance of the American social contract? Here’s what I believe. Is it too far left?
No human being is disposable.
I believe no American should go broke because they are sick.
Every working American deserves a living wage.
Every community deserves to be safe and secure. And every American, no the matter the color of their skin or zip code, deserves to be treated equally under the law.
Every child, no matter their color or zip code, deserves the best education.
Every American deserves a roof over their heads.
Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund
Today marks a milestone in our vitally important journey toward a sustainable planet with the Biden Harris administration’s announcement of $20 billion in Greenhouse Gas
Reduction Fund awards. Millions of people in under resourced communities will benefit from upgrades that make their homes, businesses and facilities more energy efficient, saving billions of dollars annually.
It is particularly noteworthy that CDFIs are at the forefront of this effort to create an equitable green economy.
We look forward to working with our partners to ensure people and places in the Deep South realize the fruits of this historic opportunity.
Today @WCKitchen lost several of our sisters and brothers in an IDF air strike in Gaza. I am heartbroken and grieving for their families and friends and our whole WCK family. These are people…angels…I served alongside in Ukraine, Gaza, Turkey, Morocco, Bahamas, Indonesia. They are not faceless…they are not nameless. The Israeli government needs to stop this indiscriminate killing. It needs to stop restricting humanitarian aid, stop killing civilians and aid workers, and stop using food as a weapon. No more innocent lives lost. Peace starts with our shared humanity. It needs to start now.
