[Bill Alert] AB 956 (@quirksilvaca) has passed out of the Senate Housing Committee. The bill will empower homeowners to build up to two detached accessory dwelling units (ADUs) on their properties.

Hey 👋 @California_HCD and @AGRobBonta, Tonight the city of @lagunabeachgov 🏖️approved the first #SB4 💒project in #OrangeCounty! 🍊Thought you should know we do get it right on occasion. Thanks @Scott_Wiener for #SB4! We put it to good use tonight! 🏡 #YIGBY #YIMBY
Tonight we are in @lagunabeachgov for the 1st #SB4 project in OC! City's RHNA is 80 LI units; so far, none have been built. This project would add 28 units of affordable housing. The site is in the city's housing element and has the protection of the HAA. They are using 46% SDBL.

Public comment is interesting -- lots and lots of support from residents in this liberal beach town. The naysayers are all people who live adjacent or within a block of the site & are upset about the views from their dining room sitting at the table v. standing on the deck. 🙄

These planning commissioners really understand their purview under SB4 & limitations on their discretion to design review. Most importantly, they are actually supportive of adding affordable housing to their community. Passed 4-0. Feels like Christmas!🎄

Los Angeles isn't going to fix ULA. If the governor and/or state legislature don't step in, a lot of money is about to flood into a ballot initiative that will blow up local government budgets across California, especially in the Bay Area.
LA Council Committee reviewing the city's mansion tax/Measure ULA decides NOT to recommend a November ballot measure to make changes. Chair @YsabelJuradoLA says it's too early to evaluate the tax's long-term effects.

Wow! Unanimous support for AB 1903, which aims to end the onslaught of frivolous litigation that makes it impossible to build condos in California—key to reviving homeownership. Still a ways to go, but @BuffyWicks has a way of making the impossible seem inevitable.

This is a damn good voter guide if you align with the Abundance/YIMBY crowds. And it's got OC candidates 🙏!
Friends, it was grueling, there were arguments, ballots have already been out, but we finished out June 2026 voter guide! We did not cover every race, but we covered the ones important to us, and we tried to do so thoroughly and transparently. canva.com/design/DAHIX73QshI…

Here's a recap of the discussion among the council members that resulted in the illegal denial of the #BuildersRemedy project -- 32 townhomes -- by the #Fullerton City Council on 5/5/26. 😵‍💫 cc: @California_HCD @AGRobBonta @PithyPai
Despite all the letters, warnings and briefings to the contrary, tonight the #Fullerton City Council denied the #BuildersRemedy project at Harbor & Hermosa. Now we wait to see who among all the letters submitted will actually sue.

Forgot to post this picture: even with all the Dos and Don'ts spelled out before them, the City Council could not get to yes.

Kinda reminds me of this one in Glendale-- the redevelopment of the Sears building. City Council knew it was a bad idea when they did it. And then they had to un-do it. la.urbanize.city/post/glenda…
