ALT I’m a Black American Freedmen with more White Anglo-Saxon slave owning ancestors than I realized. Meet Fannie Swain, one of the oldest records that I can find of my enslaved ancestors. Fannie Swain, mulatto, born enslaved in 1785, a descendant of the first white colonists on the Island of Nantucket (Richard Swain). The white Swain family went on to breed their own mulatto children (Indigenous/African admxitures) into slavery. Reminder when “slavery ended”, the U.S went on to pay some former slave owners for “property loss” of slaves, some of which bred their own mulatto children into slavery. Reminder American Freedmen, our claim of reparations, a debt that is owed, is lineage based not “race”. If you’re anti-Black and preparing to comment.
