Here’s why Poland is doing well while Britain is stagnating 👇
▪️ Investment-led growth:
Poland has spent heavily on infrastructure, industry, and education since joining the EU. It used EU funds strategically to modernise transport, digital networks, and energy! Things the UK underinvested in for over a decade.
▪️ Manufacturing powerhouse:
Poland kept its industrial base. It produces and exports real goods…from machinery and electronics to car parts…rather than relying on financial services like the UK.
▪️ Stable, predictable policies:
Poland’s governments (even when populist) have maintained relatively stable tax and energy policies, giving businesses confidence to invest. The UK’s constant U-turns….Brexit, mini-budget chaos, energy price shocks killed that stability.
▪️ Cheaper energy & lower debt:
Poland’s energy costs are lower because it invested early in domestic generation (including coal and renewables). Meanwhile, the UK has layered green levies and borrowed heavily.
▪️ Population-driven efficiency:
Unlike the UK, Poland’s growth isn’t inflated by mass immigration. Their productivity growth is real…driven by technology and skills, not population numbers.
▪️ National ambition:
Poland still thinks like a “developing country on the rise.” Britain acts like a “former empire managing decline.” That cultural difference matters.
🇵🇱 In short: Poland built. 🇬🇧 Britain borrowed.
