Facebook very conflicted about combatting misinformation. Great NYTimes article on it here nytimes.com/2020/11/24/techn… Take home message, decreasing misinformation decreases facebook usage - people want to read this stuff! So, naturally, Facebook doesn't want to remove it.

Took my daughter for a bike ride and stopped off in a park. A swarm of pigeons descended on us expecting food. My daughter pulls out her water pistol and they all disperse. Genius! Except when I got back to my bike there was a pigeon present on my handle bars. Coincidence?
