It is with deep sadness that the Howick Township Fire Department acknowledges the passing of Retired Chaplain Gary Goodkey on Sunday, January 18th, 2026.
Gary faithfully served our members and their families from 2013 to 2019. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

Effective 12:00 a.m. on August 5, 2025, a countywide open-air fire ban is now in place across all municipalities in Huron County.
🚫 What is prohibited:
• All open-air burning (burn barrels, brush, yard waste)
Campfires are permitted but must be fully extinguished after use.

✔️ Clear snow and ice from all exterior vents
✔️ Check your gas meter for snow buildup
✔️ Ensure your CO alarms are working

Fuel-fired heating appliances like dryers, furnaces, boilers, and fireplaces are all sources of carbon monoxide. If the vent is blocked, this poisonous gas can reach deadly levels inside the home. Know where the vents on your home are and be sure to clear them when shoveling.

We're also accepting food or cash donations at the entrance for the North Huron Community Food Share!
