What I love about this chapter is that it’s such a Berserk take on the chosen one trope by making Guts the “unchosen one”
He, a being born through death, should not have existed. He is a variable causality can’t fully account for, and so he’s forced to always go against the current
Up until now we’ve interpreted Guts’ struggle as refusal to submit to fate, but if he’s literally a being who doesn’t properly belong to either realm then struggling isn’t just what he does, it’s what he is. Since birth he had no choice
“Struggler” has so much more weight behind it now
